Maria Taylor, Rachel Nichols & ESPN’s poor management

Something just doesn’t sit right with me, though. How ESPN let this escalate and fester for nearly a year, and to watch it come to a head now. To pin a white woman against a black woman, in an industry dominated by men, more so white men, but still men. It’s heart-breaking to me. How everyone seems to need to have a take on this. How identity politics is magnified by this. How this is all occurring on the NBA’s largest stage and most celebrated time of year Continue reading

“THE ALMOST NBA CHAMPIONS”

So much amazing content! Such an amazing game! I actually feel better watching the Clippers meltdowns, knowing that there might be a team more cursed than my beloved, yet tortured, Knicks. The question now begs, who is going to be the team or teams of the 2020s that I write about who have a tortured fan-base that “almost” wins the chip? Continue reading

Monday “FUN-DAY” Quarterback: How many NFL QBs have started in “multiple” Super Bowls?

As of the start of the 2020 NFL season, there are three active QBs with two or more Super Bowl starts; Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger and Russell Wilson. Continue reading

Rest in Power, Kobe & Gigi!

But, then in 1996 is this kid from Philadelphia (my mother’s home-town) having gone to Lower Merion HS with cousins of mine, and that was Kobe “Jelly Bean” Bryant. I was a freshman in high school when he came on the scene, and it was like he was the next Michael Jordan. While there is no other MJ, who I always looked up to with reverence, it was more like I grew up with Kobe. He was just a bit younger than my older sister and just a bit older than me. He was my guy! I followed his career super closely. Watching him play in games, was must see TV for me. He was the consummate professional and the ultimate competitor. Continue reading

THE NBA & CHINA: A GEO-POLITICAL AFFAIR!

Very rarely does Geo-political matters and the State of the National Basketball Association intersect like this, but it has, and the NBA gets a failing grade for its handling of this matter (14). They are more concerned with corporate greed much like GOOGLE, APPLE and many other multi-billion-dollar entities who are Head-Quartered in the UNITED STATES (15). To say otherwise, means either you are truly ignorant, willfully ignorant, or you have a real incentive to protect the NBA Brand because of financial reasons (16), Continue reading

NBA PLAYOFFS 2019 (Late Edition) and my Pick for MVP!!!

Since that 1992 NBA postseason I have watched or closely followed every playoff season since. Granted some playoff year stand out more than others, but every single one had something memorable. From that postseason through 2000, I will tell you my Knicks were always relevant (6). Granted, they weren’t realistic contenders all those years but they were certainly in the mix and they came really close in 93(7), 94(8), 95(9) & even 99(10*). Other teams were memorable than too, from the Gary Payton/ Shawn Kemp Seattle Super-Sonics (11), to the Stockton to Malone – Utah Jazz(12) as well as Mark Price(13) and his time on the Cleveland Cavaliers. THE PRIVILEGE OF SPORTS DYNASTIES (PART TWO)

WE ARE WHAT WE CONSISTENTLY DO. EXCELLENCE IS THEREFORE NOT AN ACT, BUT A HABIT – Aristotle. Continue reading

THE PRIVILEGE OF AMERICAN SPORTS DYNASTIES

Since I have been watching professional sports from the time I was Ten in 1991, I have been a witness to many sports dynasties. As time goes on, I better appreciate how remarkable they truly are and were.  Of course, dynasties in sports come and go just like any cycle. Continue reading

MJ or LeBron, LeBron or MJ? (Also 2017 Finals Predictions)

I’m not going to go into the nitty gritty details about why one is more worthy of a basketball player than the other, but I will say that I was 10 years old and in 4th grade, and we all wanted to “Be Like Mike” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0AGiq9j_Ak . All of us! And Basketball ruled. We all shot hoops and we all said we wanted to go to the NBA. During LeBron’s time, there have been other players more popular. A lot of people preferred Kobe Bryant (as I mentioned before). Michael Jordan was the guy! Continue reading

My 2017 NBA Playoff Picks

The Warriors are going to run away with this thing in a cake walk. Like it won’t even be close. That 73 win team from last year, I believed was way more vulnerable than this one that won 67 Games this year. Continue reading
